Chest and abdominal muscles

This short video shows the chest and abdominal muscles and the area where pain can be felt when it is overloaded, irritated or affected by trigger points.

What is shown in the video?

The video shows where the muscle is located and how pain may be referred from it. This helps connect the anatomy with the place where symptoms are actually felt.

Why it matters

Muscle pain is not always felt exactly where the problem starts. Seeing the referral area helps guide assessment, soft-tissue work, activation exercises and changes in load or posture.

Next step

If the symptoms are strong, progressive, related to trauma, or include loss of strength or major numbness, seek medical assessment. For recurring pain or unclear symptoms, start with a functional assessment.
